Starting out from the railway station of Castiglion Fiorentino we will meander our way into the Valdichiana (Valley of the Chiana) and follow it south. We will continue gradually into the surrounding hills enjoying enchanting olive groves, vineyards, woodlands and pastures before arriving at Montecchio Castle (13th Century) which dominates the valley below.

This route will be familiar to locals, but difficult to plan without a guide. I will tell you about the many intriguing stories of this area, from the old lake, the maps of the surrounding area by Leonardo da Vinci and the numerous battles fought over control of the city.
