The wooden chalets are set out across the sloping square, framed by Vasari\u2019s loggia and medieval palaces, creating an intriguing contrast between Tuscan architecture and an atmosphere that recalls the Alps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Tyrolean village<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The heart of the event is the village in Piazza Grande, with chalets selling crafts, decorative objects, gift ideas and local products. Food plays a major role: in the <strong>food huts<\/strong> you will find mountain specialities such as pretzels, polenta, canederli dumplings, sp\u00e4tzle, roast pork shank and melted cheese, served with Tyrolean and craft beers. Roasted chestnuts are on offer too, always welcome on a December evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When darkness falls, <strong>from 5 pm<\/strong>, the square becomes the screen for the <strong>Big Lights Show<\/strong>, a series of light projections with <strong>free admission<\/strong> that is worth seeing at least once during your visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beyond the square: the Fortress and the brick creations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walking up towards the <strong>Fortezza Medicea<\/strong>, you reach the <strong>Casa di Babbo Natale<\/strong> (Santa\u2019s House), also called the <strong>Fortezza del Natale<\/strong>, open from <strong>14 November 2026 to 6 January 2027<\/strong>. Designed mainly for children, the route includes meeting Santa Claus, writing a letter to him, workshops, light installations and a planetarium. Unlike the square, <strong>admission is charged<\/strong>: the website lists <strong>\u20ac10<\/strong> for a full-price ticket and <strong>\u20ac8<\/strong> for a reduced ticket for children aged 4 to 8 when purchased on site, with different prices for online purchase and free entry for children up to 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Palazzo della Fraternita dei Laici, overlooking Piazza Grande, the programme also includes an exhibition of creations made with toy bricks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Days and opening hours<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The village\u2019s published opening hours are <strong>10 am to 9 pm<\/strong>. There are a few exceptions: on 24 December it closes early at 6 pm, on 25 December it opens at 11 am, and on <strong>27 December<\/strong>, the last day, it closes at 8 pm. In the first weeks the village opens only on certain days of the week, while it opens daily in the run-up to Christmas: as the website\u2019s information is not entirely consistent, it is best to check the updated calendar for your chosen day before setting off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting there<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arezzo is easy to reach by train too: according to the organisers, the <strong>station is less than 400 metres<\/strong> from Piazza Grande. If you are arriving by car, the main reference points are the <strong>Pietri, Cadorna and Eden car parks<\/strong>. On December weekends it is worth arriving early, so you can explore the centre before the afternoon and stay on for the evening lights.
